Matthew P. Shaw Awarded Prestigious Dissertation Fellowship

We are pleased to announce that ECSP Scholar, Matthew P. Shaw, has received the prestigious Law and Social Science Dissertation Fellowship from the Law and Society Association and the American Bar Foundation.

The fellowship, which requires a two-year residency in Chicago, includes a mentoring program and participation in research colloquia. During the fellowship, Matthew will write his dissertation, "DREAMbuilders: The Impact of In-State Resident Tuition Policies on Undocumented Student College Enrollment and Graduation," will examine the effect of state-level laws and policies on undocumented students' college enrollment and Bachelor's degree attainment.

Three doctoral students were selected for the fellowship, which is open to third-, fourth-, and fifth-year doctoral students who study the law and social inequalities. The program includes a stipend and travel funds to enable fellows to participate in scholarly conferences. More information on the fellowship program may be found here.
